  • The Polish diplomatic presence in Shanghai dates back to the period before the establishment of PRC. The Consulate, that operates nowadays, was opened on 15th October 1954 and is one of the oldest continuously functioning institutions of this type in Shanghai. On 1st May 1955, Polish Consulate in Shanghai was elevated to the rank of the Consulate General and consecutively the present consular district was established: Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian and the city of Shanghai. The diplomatic relationship between Poland and China has always been friendly, dating back from the early Polish recognition of PRC in 1949 and has been proved countless times in various forms of bilateral cooperation such as successful joint-venture shipping company Chipolbrok.
